It is good to keep away from the cloths that have just stitching to bind the edges; such cloths will not last after several washings. Those stitching will eventually pull away from the fabric thus making the fabric to fray. Besides, due to the stitches, the fabric will pull out after a few washings making the table linen to lose its shape. One good thing about quality French linens is that, they are normally made of the cotton material which makes them easier when it comes to handling them. Any stain whether the grease stain or fruit stain will easily be removed. In addition, the French table linens usually have long lasting colors as well as very pleasant and interesting designs. Some colors are printed while others are woven; these colors do not fade over a long period of time. Normally, the design and the colours on the French tablecloths are balanced to ensure that they easily blend with any decor.
When the water is drained, soak up as much water as you can with towels. If possible, hang the linens outside to dry. If this is not possible, you may be able to put your linens in the dryer on a low setting. Try to take them out before they are completely dry. Hang them over the shower rod if you do not have somewhere outdoors to hang them. Ironing your linens is best done when they are slightly damp. Real linen has to be ironed on a high setting, but it will also burn easily. Steam helps to avoid burning. Starching your linens will help them to repel liquids and other stains, while decreasing the need to be ironed. You can use liquid starch in the rinse water, or a spray starch when ironing.
Today table linens, called service linens in restaurants and catering companies, are used for formal occasions such as family dinners, holidays, weddings, birthdays and tea parties. In fact, most modern homes are void of good table linens. Everyday use has gone by the wayside and placemats are now the norm in most households. If cloth napkins and tablecloths are needed, local linen services can supply any size, color or shape of tablecloth and napkins for a nominal fee.
